ECI Secretariat Team wishes you a Happy New Year!
This is a special year for the Initiative as we celebrate the 10th anniversary since the launch of the Charter.
We hope our sense of cooperation, responsibility and solidarity will be multiplied this year.

A new book, launched in November 2009, features the Earth Charter. The Tao of Liberation: Exploring the Ecology of Transformation is co-authored by two outstanding figures: Leonardo Boff, and Mark Hathaway. The book has a Foreword by Fritjof Capra and is published by Orbis Books.
 
 
 
 
On 30 January 2010, e-GLO, Earth Charter Global Learning Opportunity open house will take place. E-GLO is a semester-long, online leadership course inspired by the Earth Charter. Participants are young people from more than 20 different countries, engaged in local grassroots projects and global initiatives. Earth Charter Youth / Student Groups' has been acknowledged by Wikispaces as "a great example of how non-profits are using wikis". Wikispaces are simple web pages that are easy and fast to edit. Earth Charter Initiative Wikispaces are used to present all the youth and student groups and their work. Every group has their own profile that they can edit themselves. For more click here.
 
 
There are four new videos on the Earth Charter available in You Tube that you could use. The 12th annual conference of Ethos Institute Businesses and Social Responsibility will take place in May 2010 in Sao Paulo with the Theme: The World Towards a New Direction.  Sustainability: The New Contract of Society with the Planet. The whole conference program is based on the Earth Charter and it is expected to be an interactive and participative event. For more click here.
 
 
 
An inspiring story of a collaborative development project between two NGOs, separated by the Atlantic Ocean but united by the principles of the Earth Charter. The project aims to address concrete basic needs in Zambia. Click here for more information.
 
 
 
This event will be held on January 28-31, 2010 in the Azores, Portugal. Participants include university professors and environmental educators. The event is being organized by ASPEA (Portuguese Association for Environmental Education), Earth Charter Affiliate and will have a workshop on the Earth Charter and education.
